Initially known as “Fudan Public School”, Fudan University was founded in the year 1905. The word ‘Fudan’, means ‘heavenly light shines day after day’, and indicates inexhaustible self-reliance and industriousness.

Fudan University consists of 32 schools and departments, with 74 bachelor degree programs, 224 master degree programs, 35 doctoral degree programs of Level I academic disciplines, 154 doctoral degree programs, and 29 post-doctoral programs. Fudan also hosts 16 sixteen hospitals and over 300 research institutes.

Currently, Fudan is home to over 2800 faculty and proud to host 46 academicians of Chinese Academy of Science and Engineering, 99 Chair Professors of Chang Jiang Scholars Program, and 30 National Key Basic Research Program of China (also named “973 Program”). Fudan has an enrollment of 14,100 undergraduates and 14,800 graduates, including over 3,000 international degree students from 120 countries and regions.

Fudan was ranked 40th in 2018 in the QS World University Rankings and selected as one of the Double First-Class universities in China.

Course Description

The course focuses on accounting objectives, accounting information generation, accounting report preparation methods, and accounting standards, including basic accounting theory, basic methods of accounting and basic operating techniques. Through the study of this course, students can understand the emergence and development of accounting, clarify the basic functions, characteristics, objects, tasks of accounting, and the basic premise and general principles of accounting; understand and master accounting elements, accounting subjects and accounts, double-entry records; be able to read and compile accounting statements, and perform calculation and analysis of financial indicators related to the accounting statements; understand the relevant content of the accounting work organization and China accounting standards.

Course Description

China is expected to outrun U.S. as the world’s largest economy in the 21st century. It is regarded as one of the most disruptive events to the global order. For anyone who wants to be globally literate, a basic familiarity with this most dynamic and enormous economy is a must. What factors contribute to the rise of China? How to profit from this growing and huge market? How did/will the rise affect the rest of the world? What are the challenges threatening the sustainable development of China? This course is designed to answer above questions from multiple perspectives of economy, business, culture, and politics. We will first investigate the historical legacy and its impact on current economic development. Next, we will study the major economic players (governments, various types of firms and the financial market) and their interactions. Then, we investigate human capital development and technology progress, which are believed to be the keys to future growth. In the fourth part, we identify the challenges undercutting its economic performance with emphasize on the unbalanced economic development pattern. Finally, we look at how China interacts with the rest of the world.

Course Description

The first part of the course will introduce the main concepts and ideas elicited by the leading western philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, Kant, etc. This course will largely examine western philosophers’ ideas and their intellectual vision of the way of thinking. Additionally, students will be encouraged to critically analyze and propose personal opinions and arguments to these philosophical ideas and the influence to the development of human behavior and thought that apply to the modern world rather than just learning philosophy from the textbook. The second part of the course will compare the Western philosophy with the philosophical thoughts of Ancient Chinese. Students will be encouraged to discuss the difference with the two traditions, in order to better understand their own culture.
